Believe it or not, this is a practice common with most bureaucracies. Gentlemen at my firm are given a razor blade and shaving cream and told to go "clean-up". I guess that's okay if you're in the public eye but also if it offends the eyes of those you with whom you work with daily.
No one respects that transition time! It's a sacred time in the life of a beard, and no one respects it.
A beard does not just pop up! You're thinking of herpes, people!
I understand that, in some industries, extra hair means extra risk, but, in most cases, how does the unacceptability of a beard differ from the banning of gays in the military or segregation?
