  1. hi there,

I don't know if you will ever read this, Kimberly, but I would like to address the motives of your website, www.blog4reel.com.

I signed up for your service for the same reason many of the other people signed up. I write a scarcely-read comedy blog, and saw your contest as an opportunity for bigger exposure (read: money).

I signed up for your service in moment of weakness and vulnerability.

    Now:

You might have noticed that I have removed my blog from your website as of this evening.

    Why?

Because I read the fine print. You weren't expecting that were you? I may have read it a week too late, but I read it.

    Here's where you lost me:

"If agreed upon, winners release all rights to Blog4Reel.com. If a movie is not produced within 10 years from the date of submission of the blog, all rights to your blog are released, however the script remains property of Blog4Reel to do with as we see fit."

I would like my blog taken out of your competition.

    No one owns my ass.

Good luck on our quest to profit off of others' creativity.

let me know how it goes.

    thanks,
    Wise Assington

  2. I was curious why removed your blog. I would have been happy to address your concern and am happy to do so now just so that you understand that we have pure motives. First of all the rules and regs were written by a lawyer who is out to protect our company. I think you'll find that most corporations have similar rules when it comes to ownership of intellectual property. I don't know what your experience is as a writer but from mine - most competitions - film or script require the submitter to release the rights to their "property". What that means is you are GRANTING PERMISSION. As it is written in our R&R - if agreed upon. If you read all the rules and regs you also read that there is intention to offer profit sharing if a film based on a winning blog is successful. We want to do right by all that are involved with blog4reel. Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. Perhaps the R&R need to be rewritten. I want to be as clear as possible about our competition - our purpose is creative collaboration. That's it. Good luck 2 u!
